A federal election has been called; it's the longest campaign in Canadian history, and I'm already tired of it.
My ex-BiL posted an anti-Trudeau meme that was overtly racist. But I guess that's ok That's, like, day TWO of the campaign. 75 days to go.
One of my staff is kinda weaselly and passive aggressive. I'm having a hard time pinning her down to anything, and she's good at dodging. I will win, eventually. I WILL WIN.
My kids are super cute, but Peanut #1 is no so much sleeping through the night anymore. She will if I lie down with her, but then I fall asleep, and she ends up sharing the bed with me. Good for, lousy for me. I'm worried that it sets a bad precedent, and sets a bad habit.
My cats are dumb.
My yard looks nice when I cut the lawn! That's Something!

Dear Diary
What's new this week?
Peanut is awesome and hilarious, and just getting to the REALLY defiant phase. I wonder what would happen if I spent a day saying Yes to everything she asked? That would be interesting
Peanut #2 is good; although she screamed her little noggin off until about 11 pm last night. I had both kinds of flu, and the Project Manager is recovering from a GI bug, so we were not at our best, I'm afraid.
The Project Manager, apart from the GI bug, is amazing as always; she's insanely busy with work and.... crap, I think that means that every domestic task needs to be mine right now. I mean, I know that, but this month (or August, to be clear) needs to be 100% me. I think this means I have to learn where her laundry goes. TERROR
Also, the house is looking great these days! New deck, and the attic is all new, which is AMAZEBALLS

It's been a while since the Project Manager and I have had to live in a construction zone; and it's not as fun as I remember it.
As a brief explanation: The roof repair caused or found or exacerbated a leak in the roof, which has come down, from time to time, through our bedroom ceiling light fixture. So we are displaced from our room into the attic room, which has no power at the moment, and also has a toddler in it, so we are living in a share accomodation of 385sqft with Peanut #1, accesisble through a miniscule staircase that goes into our landing, which is full of furniture from our bedroom.
Our clothes are in the bedroom. Behind poly. So I literally have to slink along the wall like a rodent to get a shirt. Also, I have no Idea where the iron is.
But the attic is LOVELY, even without power. It's like being in a egg.

Hi Blog!
Let's see, what's the newest thing?
Well, I bike every day this week in both directions, and I'm swimming three days a week.
So I'm tired, but I feel and look great.
The house is the best it's ever been; largely to being able finally to hire professional people to do the work (thank you Project Manager!)
I don't see my friends enough, but that's ok. I guess. For now.

So I do the church thing... I have since I was a wee lad, and my role has grown from child to sulking teenager to leader (God help me)
The church I attend is old, very old... and Latin is common, the choir wear robes and don't sway or wave their arms, and the readings are done from behind a brass eagle that probably weighs 200 pounds.
So it's a bit traditional.
It is also going through a bit of a transition, to catch up with the last 20 years of social justice teachings, and to be more welcoming and more open.
Last night we got a bit of a taste of how far we have to go.
1) We got a complaint about a Lady Gaga tribute act; possibly the most inclusive show we've ever hosted in our performance spaces, possibly over costumes that are nearly as racy as the ones we wore in our Sanctuary show last year, and possibly over choreography that was as tame as a waltz, from people who had not seen the show, AT THE SAME TIME
2) One of our junior priest-lets posted an article about how we have to help gay people understand the choice between heterosexuality and celibacy 'cause that's the choice that Jesus told us they have to make.
Both these things are bullshit,
It was like 1950s America called up and was all like "Hey, remember me?"
I did, and the Project Manager did, have a long consideration of what our Sunday mornings would be like if we suddenly freed up about 2 hours on an ongoing basis
Plus the Unitarians are closer to our house.

Am I tired?
Yes I am.
It's really interesting, I've been doing these memory games and so on and so forth on Lumosity to try and improve my attention, etc.
I've actually gotten worse. Dumber, if you will.
That said, Peanut is great, Peanut#2 is great, but not REALLY sleeping all that super well except during the day, so there's some co-sleeping and some Dad-stays-up-and-plays-Xcom-While-rocking-peanut, which is fun.
The cats are dumb, that's a fact. Did I mention that our eldest cat finally passed away, after a short-ish illness? Well she did, and we miss her, but she was pretty done.
We had her previous owners come by to say goodbye, which was an excellent way to tie up loose ends.

In which I am uncharacteristically emotional
The Chatelaine is teaching Peanut our actual names, and I have objected to this without plumbing the reasons.
Well I plumbed, and here's the reason:
I have spent some 14 years in the company of a child who called me by my name, and I have earned, I think, the privilege to be referred to by title, and I will defend it.
So there's that.
