Poor neglected blog
Quick upate:
What's HOT: Work is pretty good... The house is coming along very slowly, but a sick day will help. The cats weird chin skin infection is gone. I have antique bricks (fulfilling an old dream)
What's NOT: My budget for Feb did not compensate for the fact that I am again paying CPP and EI, so I'm a little lower on funds than I thought. That stressed me out more than I thought it would.
And that's that!

Why I love the bus
An old man two seats up just asked a teenager to sit on his lap.
An alcoholic from a northern boom-town is hitting on a tweaking
pregnant woman by describing his train-wreck of a life, to the horror
of the straight-laced teenaged girl sitting beside him on the rear
seat.
The bus-driver is calling out every street and major landmarks, such
as grocery stores.
The man from the north has now appalled the pregnant junky. No one
looks mor uncomfortable than an appalled pregnant junky.
Now he's commenting loudly on the piercings of the
teenaged-lap-sitting-solicitee... Maybe they're actors... Maybe it's a
reality show or a psychological experiment.
Another person has got off from our area, leaving loud dude, old
creep, teenager, pregnant junky, sleeping guy and me at the back.
It's gone quiet....
Loud dude has determined that this street is the end of Prairie City. That's sensible.
Maybe she's not a junkie, maybe she just really really has to pee.
Loud dude is now mocking the bus driver, who just said 'next stop,
coming up!'. Ya figger?
Time to get off!

A post you probably shouldn't read.
Somebody's snarky. And just plain factually wrong on two out of three counts. Nothing like taking information from others out of context to fabricate a reality that allows you to believe that events match your world-view.
You want to know what's going on in my life? Ask me, don't tell me.

Eco tips.
Programmable thermostat!
Turn the heat down!
Put a timer on your blockheater!
Use a toaster oven or microwave!
Use the light cycle on your dishwasher!
REALLY? That's the best we can do? For pete's sakes. No mention of incandescent vs. fluorescent bulbs, no mention of vehicle idling, no mention of caulking windows and doors, no mention of putting a timer on your Xmas lights, no mention of keeping your fridge no fuller than 2/3s (you know who you are...), no mention of using ice in the fridge, etc...

Perceptions of others
As I've now been cleared for landing by port authorities and my doctors, I have begun to spend some time ashore.
The locals on shore are very warm and welcoming, and leave me to my own devices much of the time.
And I come and go as I like.
Ships who see me floating around in the shipping lanes often tease me, however, demanding to know why I would take back to my raft when I could stay on the island.
I don't know why I do either, but I resent the question.
It's also interesting that the islanders in question don't ask... just others who have seen me paddling away. I suppose I should make sure it's not bothering the islanders.
