I am trying to convert more of my supervision to more coaching
This is somewhat hard, as one of my staff people may be uncoachable. That's a challenge that I will need face with the help of some of my other Team Leads, as they supervise her allies / enablers.
Speaking of which, best I off and talk to one of them about it.

A rare work post
"Adam works at a speed that is faster than most; this can sometimes cause communication problems" - A student
That student was completely correct. I work faster than most people, and that means that I consult fewer times than most, on big projects.
We are besieged, in my office, by a counter-productive culture that has insisted on multiple rounds of consultation:
1: Here's a thing, what do you think?
2: Here's the thing Version 2, now what do you think?
3: The thing is ready to be done, but before I actually DO it, what do you think?
4: The thing is ready to be done, should I ask anyone else what they think?
5: I didn't do the thing because anyone else didn't get back to me.
My view is this:
1: Here's the thing, what is it missing?
2: I did the thing.
Because of previous history, most folk don't really engage in constructive criticism until Step 3... and you can see how well that works in my new approach.

Christmas
Yah, this is not my favourite time of year. It contains all of my favourite things,, but just way too much of them.
That said, if I can get through gift-wrapping tonight, I'll actually be mostly done! Huzzah for me!
Not bad for 36 hours before the big day
:D

Clarification
I don't hate Christmas;I just hate how busy I am, how behind I am because I'm so busy, and how much money we spend. We spend a lot of money. I'mma try to figure out how much money we've spent this month already.
However, this year, at least, I seem to have got my gift-buying right. Not bad, me!

Church Busy-ness
Aaaaaat present, and the Most Holy United, I am:
Vestryman...
Warden...
Stewardship Chair...
Concession Manager...
Head Technician...
Choirman...
Band Sound Guy....
And I'm terrible at all of them! Yay me!
So I am working on dropping as many of them as I can.
Vestryman, that's gotta stay for a while
Warden, same as above
Stewardship Chair, this is the one I want to drop
Concession Manager: Gotta go, gotta go in January.
Head Technician, like to have gone by February
Choirman, I'll keep this one if it's all the same to you.
Band Sound guy, like to have gone by March
:)

Lest we Froget
I'm not gonna lie to you.
I need Remembrance Day because it's the first day off in a couple of weeks for me, and it's the only day off for a month or so to come.
I've got the Friday off as well, but that'll be spent on Isambard, putting up trim, painting, etc.
Amazingly, The Boy has suddenly had a fit of being reliable, so he may find that this throws some work his way. Basically, he could end up being the Isambard groundskeeper.
Ooh, also excitingly, the Project Manager has endorsed continuing to take the Peanuts to daycare by bicycle, which is_awesome_ because they love it and I love it and I think they're going to be warm enough because there will be two of them in a tiny plastic box.
At work, all is well, some amazing projects are going ahead, most of them on my shoulders.
Oh, other neat thing, I"m starting to take some steps back from some of my volunteering commitments so that I can focus on being BETTER at a smaller number of things, as opposed to being mediocre at a large number of things
