A day in my office

So I'm slower in my office, I'm more distracted... my desk isn't as comfy, the coffee isn't as good...

This is _very _interesting.

Something is totally wonky running in the background of my machine and slowing everything down...

BUT:

The big printer is here.
Some of my work needs to be 'eyes-on" for incidents.
.. nope, that's all I got.

Working

I get up, I make a coffee, and I go right to work.

I like this.

I used to spend my mornings before work goofing off until it was time to get the kids up, but now I do literally go straight to work. I think I'm supposed to dislike this on progressive grounds, but it actually works really well for me.

So my current work day is get up about 6 I'm at work by 6:15 I work until about 7:15 or 7:30 and then I get the kids up. Then the project manager takes over until about 9:30 so I'm getting about 3 hours of solid work done first thing in the morning. Sen I have remote or video conference is for the rest of the day until about 3 o'clock when work day kind of comes to an end around needing a break. Then we have can social time and play time at supper and then I usually go back to work as the kids settle down, well the project manager watches TV or also works.

I kind of want to look up old fashioned work days to see how this compares to pre-industrialized workdays

Things to keep:

Work from home, without kids
Not accessing restaurants, but nice to get to grocery stores more
Keeping the handwashing stations at the start of the stores
I don't mind the kids at home, but some do.
I like the ability to do crafting and laundry during the day

I like the work when you need to, eat when you're hungry part of life.

I do need to do more CHORES during teh day though, that's a thing.

Sunday

I find these days that I get through the mornings really well, but the afternoons are shit. Bad mood, tired, unmotivated... I wonder if there's something I should be doing in the afternoons, like right after lunch to try and re-energize.

AS GOD IS MY WITNESS I SHALL NOT NAP. Not that I could anyway, because ... Peanuts need attention, so ya that's not happening.

I am re-energized by bouncey music, by reading, by COMPLETING something... maybe what I'll try is pushing through with a small, completeable task right after lunch to help feel like the afternoon is a conquerable hill.

Thursday

Here's some predictions:

I am going to lose at least one of my favourite breweries.

Eating Street in Prairie Metropolis is going to lose at least 5 restaurants.

The Project Manager's business will drop to one location.

After this is done, I will work from home at least 2 days a week.

School will not start back up until September,

Day camps will run in August, but maybe not in July.

The American Pr*Sident will attempt to delay the November election.

The Albertan economy will shrink, structurally, by 10% and there will be an exodus of young Albertans to other jurisdictions.

Tuesday morning....

Well it's another quiet Tuesday morning here, and I'm already at work getting through e-mails and working on some documents.

A lot of my job is sending e-mails and so on... but a lot of it is also just writing.

And some stats tracking, and also what to do WITH those stats. and creative problem solution proposing

That doesn't always seem like it's enough Job to do, you know? I mean, it's a lot of work, but at the end of the day, if I weren't doing it, it wouldn't reaaaaally make a difference. Maybe that's the theme for today: What makes a difference?

What if the new normal is permanent?

So, like, there's a possibility that, without a vaccine or treatment, that this kind of social isolation could go on for an indefinite period.

Wait, that's terrible writing. This social isolation will go on for a period that is defined by the absence / presence of a treatment or vaccine.

Maybe, maybe if you can get a community with no cases for two weeks, they'll stop isolating inside their community, but they'd still keep out the external vectors, so the isolation would remain global.

So interesting...
