So I do the church thing... I have since I was a wee lad, and my role has grown from child to sulking teenager to leader (God help me)
The church I attend is old, very old... and Latin is common, the choir wear robes and don't sway or wave their arms, and the readings are done from behind a brass eagle that probably weighs 200 pounds.
So it's a bit traditional.
It is also going through a bit of a transition, to catch up with the last 20 years of social justice teachings, and to be more welcoming and more open.
Last night we got a bit of a taste of how far we have to go.
1) We got a complaint about a Lady Gaga tribute act; possibly the most inclusive show we've ever hosted in our performance spaces, possibly over costumes that are nearly as racy as the ones we wore in our Sanctuary show last year, and possibly over choreography that was as tame as a waltz, from people who had not seen the show, AT THE SAME TIME
2) One of our junior priest-lets posted an article about how we have to help gay people understand the choice between heterosexuality and celibacy 'cause that's the choice that Jesus told us they have to make.
Both these things are bullshit,
It was like 1950s America called up and was all like "Hey, remember me?"
I did, and the Project Manager did, have a long consideration of what our Sunday mornings would be like if we suddenly freed up about 2 hours on an ongoing basis
Plus the Unitarians are closer to our house.

Am I tired?
Yes I am.
It's really interesting, I've been doing these memory games and so on and so forth on Lumosity to try and improve my attention, etc.
I've actually gotten worse. Dumber, if you will.
That said, Peanut is great, Peanut#2 is great, but not REALLY sleeping all that super well except during the day, so there's some co-sleeping and some Dad-stays-up-and-plays-Xcom-While-rocking-peanut, which is fun.
The cats are dumb, that's a fact. Did I mention that our eldest cat finally passed away, after a short-ish illness? Well she did, and we miss her, but she was pretty done.
We had her previous owners come by to say goodbye, which was an excellent way to tie up loose ends.

In which I am uncharacteristically emotional
The Chatelaine is teaching Peanut our actual names, and I have objected to this without plumbing the reasons.
Well I plumbed, and here's the reason:
I have spent some 14 years in the company of a child who called me by my name, and I have earned, I think, the privilege to be referred to by title, and I will defend it.
So there's that.

Nailing it!
The Project Manager has been away for four days, and I'm doing ok! Actually, better!
The house is clean, the laundry's done except that the cats celebrated new bedding by barfing on it, the baby is clean and fed and in day care on time.
ALSO, I have written way ahead on my campaign, I have not used the car in 2 days, I haven't had a drink in two days, this is weird!
I can't wait for her to get home, but how do I keep this productivity up?

Second Peanut is on its way!
So we have another baby on the way, due exactly at the same time as my sister's birthday, which is, in and of itself, lovely.
We're a little freaked about the physical arrangement of the house, but with The Boy turning 18 next year, his room will become available. We may move up there ourselves and keep the second floor for children, or we may move the children into our room and take the small room as our own, who knows!
I do need to do something to get more heat up there, but that's not a huge concern initially. I mean, there's enough heat up there now, but only barely, and it's electric not forced air, etc.
The Project Manager is well, no illness apart from some fatigue, which is also totally unfair to other moms, but that's ok, too.
Peanut is in great shape, though she's not a big baby by any means. She walks, she says some words, she signs some other words... it's fun.
Also, the cats are dumb.

Tired
I feel like a real parent! Peanut is teething pretty badly, so her sleep is all messed up. So my sleep is also all messed up. It is the suck.
I brought her in with us last night. The sequence of her sleep was: Put in soother and go to sleep; Be unable to breath because mucus and take out soother; cry, have sore teeth and want to chew on something; start over
But she sure is cute.
