Covid thoughts

I've had another thought about what I will miss when Covid is over and we're "Back To Normal"

Staying home.

Commuting is bullshit.

Total bullshit

A good weekend

I did THINGS

and I, like, got them _done_! Like a grown-up.

It felt good. Now I'm about 2 weeks behind at work, but that's ok.

The Peanuts are doing great and we have NEW NEIGHBOURS who have a 9-year old little girl named Raven, and that's about the best thing that has happened to our Peanuts in a long time, so far as we can tell. There's a lot of bike riding and shouting and carrying on.

Also, Raven's parents worked at the same Summer Attraction as I did, for many years, so we speak a lot of the same shorthand.

The garage is coming along, ish, and we wait for permits, but some work around it is happening, which is very nice. It's a bunch of concerete sticking out of the ground right now, but you can kinda see... what it's _going_ to be

9.3.21

I've been a bad blogger

So just a few notes today:

1) Work is great, for now, but we have a technical problem that is going to suck, which I may need to fix, with power. BOO. Don't like the use of power.

2) The Peanuts are doing great; it's that weird season where they wear snowpants in the morning and ride bikes in the afternoon. Prairie Metropolis has wacky springs

3) I'm behind on every domestic task.  Mostly 'cause beer is delicious

4) Family all well and healthy, thank goodness.

5) Abolish the Monarchy

Dear Diary

This is more of a chronicle than a musing, today

I ran a half-marathon on Sunday! It was good, and hard, and I'm sore as hell today.

As I reflect on it, I am very pleased that I didn't get whiny during it, that's a thing I can do.

I was able to plan and execute the race without being pushed around by some other folks who wanted me to do things in a particular way, and I was able to be a functional human afterwards!

I had a bit of a cool-down after, with some lovely beers and family time, and then a relaxing day.

Now that it's behind me, I need to spend some time on the house around here to get things all cleaned up.

Oooh, also, in theory the excavation for the new garage starts this week. We have a meeting with the General Contractor today to plan it out

12.2.21

As per my last post

I am _tired_ and listless these days.

I mean, the pull crank on my motor still works and I can get fired up, but it takes more work than it did a month ago, for sure.

Will this fade as winter fades? I suspect so!

11 months in

So it turns out that I am good with ... <gestures at everything> for about 11 months

This week is the one where I think I've run out of patience. I want to see my friends, I want to hug people I treasure, I want to GO places, like schools and businesses. I'd like to see my extended family, I'd like to play boardgames face to face... stuff like that

I mean, I've done REALLY well, compared to most. I am _good_ at staying home. But it turns out I run out of steam about 11 months in.

How are we all?

Well, the Peanuts are in good shape, and Peanut #1 is starting to show some emotional-management skills, as she matures a bit, and this is good.

Peanut #2 is getting very good at more or less everything; she's a smartypants

The Project Manager is good, but stressed and working on too many things too fast.

We're continuing to build our garage suite, but it's going sloooowly.

My running is going really well, (he says as he ices his knee )
