Hey fuckface.

"I would love to see some Nordic free form or black box style games in the future." I did submit a larp like that, on the request of the organizers, but then they rejected the very concept they had asked me to design. It was rather bizarre, all in all. So, that's why Nordic wasn't there. Maybe it's still too controversial. Or maybe I'm still too controversial. I'm not sure which."
Remember where the guy just said there were 2 freeform events? So actually, there were 2/5 events running free -form, so you are incorrect.

"The rationale provided to us was that "we have too many sci-fi games"...which, upon looking at the itinerary, seems like a weak one. Also, I note that just about all organizers are part of a crew of larpers that have known each other for about 30ish years or so. It's the usual suspects running the usual games, in other words, and "newfangled ideas" like Nordic seems not welcome."
Yes, asshole, because when you submitted, we had 4/6 games were Sci-fi. So yes, we didn't want to make it 5/6.  Also, the organizers have known each other, in case, for less than 5 years, and in another case, less than 12 months.  And again, as above, 40% of our games were free-form

"Same old, same old. I'll do my own things, I guess. As I've had to for the past 8 years."
You have done exactly fucking nothing in 8 years, except one LARP, that I get your site for you for free, and a whoooooooooooooooooooooooooole lot of bitching and moaning.

"And the way they conducted business this time was just...yeah. "
Hey, go fuck yourself

"the about a dozen or so people who have contributed to YYY (notably, none of the people behind XXXX have ever attended any YYY event), and the people behind the ZZZZZ project (which I've been unable to attend so far, but I'm dying to go). But these are all activities outside the mainstream and the mainstream shows absolutely no willingness to invite or respect us."
Yeah, I got you the site for the latest YYY event, so I guess my support is invisible to you?
Also, the ZZZZZ people showed up to this event and were awesome!
So if I'm the mainsteam, and I don't have any willingness to invite or respect you, I'm really bad at not inviting you or respecting you!
" I don't know what to believe anymore. I have a long history of not being treated terribly well by some people in this community, and my reaction has to be seen in that context. My perspective on this particular event has already been presented."
And presented, and presented, until your voice is synonymous with NOT FUN RANTING ABOUT HOW EVERYONE ELSE'S LARPS SUCK

FTR: Here's what I said to you when you submitted:
Thank you for submitting the SNIP to XXXX
We're going to say No at this point, because we had a lot of Sci-Fi submissions, and so we chose based on when people had submitted.
That said, we'd love to see the game happen, perhaps at a later event which we are considering for early 2017.
I hope this is ok

See that part where I invited you to look at early 2017? To which you never replied?

Go fuck yourself.

The usual

The kids have summer colds!  Huzzah!  So much mucus!
I think I'm getting close to divesting myself of a lot of my props or costumes.

I can't keep track of them, and I don't use them, so ... what's the point?

8.7.16

More musings

Sure is summer, and I am still way behind and getting busier as always.

I really need to finish this damned fountain project.  BUT HOW?

Copper tins to hold the stones?
Concrete basins to hold the stones?

Copper painted wood?  Yes, that's probably the best idea.  But like SHINY painted wood.

Test Run

If the General Synod fails to approve Gay Marriage:
  1. I move that Most Holy United ignore this decision.
    1. There is no route to agreement through scripture
      1. We must look elsewhere
    2. Gay people are marginalized, and subjected to violence, and have a current need for help
      1. 2016: 50 people killed in a nightclub for being gay
      2. 2015-2016 Hate crimes related to sexual orientation in Edmonton jumped from 8% of cases to 25%
      3. 2013: Scott Jones, stabbed for being gay, left paralyzed
      4. 2012: Marie Lapuz, stabbed to death
      5. 2010: A gay couple to scared to share their names had their home firebombed
      6. 2009: Richard Dowery, beaten for being gay, left brain damaged
      7. 2008: Anji Dimitriou and Janue Currie, beaten in front of their children for being gay
    3. Our silence on this matter will be construed by others as approval.
      1. A pastor: " “50 less pedophiles in this world.”, and " we’re supposed to be sad because a bunch of perverts in a gay bar are killed.",
      2. A different pastor "“shouldn’t be mourning the death of 50 sodomites.”and " The tragedy is — I’m kind of upset that he didn’t finish the job!”"
      3. We will be lumped in with those who endorse the attacks above.
      4. Imagine if you took a picture of all the people who think gay people are different from everyone else. Anglicans would be in the same picture as the attackers above.
      5. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, we would not be the Samaritan, or even the churchy people who pass by... people would think that the followers of Jesus are the brigands.
    4. But what about fracturing the church?
      1. Imagine a puzzle piece that is blue and pink. I want it to be pink, so I cut it in half, and voila, I have a puzzle piece that is all pink, and one that is all blue. They still fit into the puzzle, and the puzzle picture is still beautiful
    5. We baptize gay people, we confirm them, why would we not marry them?

Impostor Syndrome

mpostor syndrome (also known as impostor phenomenon or fraud syndrome) is a term coined in 1978 by clinical psychologists Dr. Pauline R. Clance and Suzanne A. Imes referring to high-achieving individuals marked by an inability to internalize their accomplishments and a persistent fear of being exposed as a "fraud".

So we've had a hell of a month here at Prairie University, and I KNOW it's because of work that I did.

I KNOW the team we assembled is amazing, and they did a great job.

But I can't escape the feeling that I "got away with it".  That somehow we skated by on the work of others that they would have done perfectly well without us.  It's not a good feeling, because it scares me to proceed with any improvements.

Maybe it's just that it's SO big that I can't wrap my brain around it.  I hope that's it

The Violence of the Peanut.

The Peanuts love to fight.

And I'm inclined to let them at this point, as it seems to be the kind of thing where if I ignore it now, it will solve itself before they get too rambunctious.

My sister and I fought like dogs for years, and finally we just stopped. So I'm hoping to accelerate that process.

Also. As a side effect, maybe Peanut #1 will be less tattly

18.5.16

price of being busy

We do amazing things, the Project Manager and I, but it eats all our time.

And we tend to fall down in heaps about 9 pm and not get back up again, and that means laundry, dishes, and everything else conceivable piles up

Everything except the awesome things.

Sounds ok, right?

But the cracks are starting to show.

The Project Manager and Peanut fight more or less continuously (because Peanut is 3) and there's no time to reset, start over, etc.

Peanut #2 is more or less a barbarian child... and some point I should be doing more lawn and garden work.  Also, I should get the snow tires off the car before we go camping this weekend.

I guess that's the price of doing all the awesome things.
