Crisis Mode

You can't be in crisis mode all the time

And I think you're addicted to it.

I need you to celebrate. Something. Anything. Look around you and see what other people are celebrating, and celebrate that, if you don't know what to celebrate.

I mean, if misery is your own only comfort, then you need a full brain reset. You're kinda stuck in a loop there, right?

Also, misery may love company, but company does not love misery?

Quick note on the red poppy (not for wider circulation)

Warmongers use the red poppy to camouflage who they are.

Our Prime Minister continues turn a blind eye to the sale of a BILLION dollars in weapons to dictatorships. our Premier is an actual fascist,. but they put on their red poppies and look doleful once a year.

Neither of them would hesitate to put young people back in harms way and call it tradition.

I find it nauseous. I didn't get time this year to get my white poppies orders, but for next year...

Winter is come

It's chilly time now, but no snow yet in Prairie Metropolis

The new garage is almost done, like, days away, and soon we will have a roommate in it and that will be nice! We are realizing that it is so close to the house, and we are so loud, that it is almost like having a roommate.

I'm excited to have a shop to work in again, but not excited to have to move my tools into it in the cold and snow.

Everything is well, beyond that! Family is blessedly healthy and hale, work is fine.

Our weekly boardgame group is on Board Game Arena, and we've played hundreds of games over the last year, and made some new friends and reconnected with some old ones, which is great

Where we're at!

 All is pretty good here?

School, work, etc going on...

The Garage Suite is almost done, like, days out, I think? Then we can rent it out and Yay!

We are looking at our longterm financial picture, and starting to plan for retirement, and also continuing our capital plan, including, maybe, trying to buy the Avocado House next to us, which is a death-trap, and tearing it down.

We also had that Prairie Metropolis Progressive question last night, of, "do you think the Peanuts will continue to live here?" and it's amazing to think that in a few short years they could be looking to spread their wings and go off and have adventures!

When you're going through hell... keep going

I am shocked, SHOCKED, at the number of smart, health professionals who have chosen not to get vaccinated against Covid. I am shocked, even more so, that no one in public health, at the time I write this, has the stones to hand out punishments that are proportionate to the terrible attitude that this shows

Madness

 Work is totally insane.

SET, UAT, Covid, and funding cuts have meant that we can barely function at all. Like barely function.

It's reached the point where it's funny, in a hysterical-laughter kind of way. Like: we're boned. BONED.

We laid off the people who suck, we have the people who are good, and the people who are struggling. The people who are struggling have been carried by the people who are good, and the people who are good are now the people who are struggling. And there's no one left.

Random thoughts as I putter

1. I'm getting more control over my drinking! I'm not high-risk, I always add, but I'd like to low-risk.

2. I need a better morning care routine than "drink coffee and doomscroll". Something with floss and a moisturizer.

3. I'm at my lowest weight in a long time

4. I have been stung by a wasp for the first in a long time. I will now do to its nest what the Fascists did to Guernica

5. My kids have a lot of shoes
